The AAPG House of Delegates (HOD) is not a committee of the HGS. It is the legislative body of AAPG and consists of one delegate per 70 active AAPG members. The Houston area has 50 representatives in the HOD for the 2012-2013 year, making it the largest local delegation to AAPG.
Each Houston delegate is elected by the local AAPG membership for a three-year term, with approximately one-third of the delegates elected each year. Duties of the delegates include reviewing the professional experience and ethical standards of Houston-area AAPG applicants, reviewing Houston-area Certified Petroleum Geologist applications, making recommendations on applications to the Executive Committee, and participating in legislative matters at the national HOD meeting each year.
The Houston-area HOD meets once each month from September to June (except December) to review applications and discuss other HOD business.
Bonnie Milne-Andrews is the Houston-area AAPG HOD group foreman for 2012-2013. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with her or any other member of the delegation listed here. Unlike the SEG and some other national professional societies, the AAPG does not have local "chapters." Instead, they have local "affiliated societies." As a Houston member of the AAPG, these delegates are your elected voices to AAPG and a link between the national AAPG and local geological societies like the HGS, so let your opinions be known.
